Air India’s fuel crisis:Some ex-Ahmedabad timings,routes changed
Ahmedabad, 31 May, 2011
First it was change of hub, then there was pilot strike and now there’s another problem with Air India. The latest is oil crisis. As Air India has not paid for oil, the companies have stopped supply at some airports. This has affected Air India’s schedule.
Talking about Ahmedabad related flights, Air India has put narrow Airbus 321 planes in place of wider Boeing 777 jumbo to save fuel. AI 144 Mumbai, Ahmedabad which used to go to Newark will arrive at Ahmedabad from Delhi and will operate as AI 191. It will leave for Newark via Mumbai. Passengers will have to change their aircraft at Mumbai.
Air India has added Abu Dhabi as a sector to its Muscat-bound flight. The flight, AI 985, will depart from the city for Muscat via Mumbai and Abu Dhabi. The change in route will come into effect from May 31.
AI 010 Delhi — Ahmedabad, which used to depart as AI 131 from Ahmedabad to London via Mumbai, has been replaced by AI 144.
AI 144, which used to fly between Newark and Ahmedabad via Mumbai, will now leave for London via Mumbai as AI 131. The timings of this flight has also been changed(departure from Ahmedabad will be at 11.00 pm instead of 10.00 pm).
