By our political desk, Ahmedabad, November, 2011

Gujarat Congress President today remembered Allah when he saw 10,786 likes on his Facebook account. The figure 786 is considered auspicious in Islam.

Modhwadia very active on Facebook and somewhat lesser active on Twitter today in his Facebook comment said, “just saw 10,786 likes… Allah’s way of guiding me”.

Modhwadia was in Porbandar today attending counter fast titled as ‘Satkarma fast’ against Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s Sadbhavana mission fast.

He posted photos of Satkarma fast in Porbandar describing it as very succesful on the basis of people gathered there. However one of the comments posted below the photographs was interesting. A Facebooker Viral Mody pointed out that if the leaders of both the parties really want to serve, they should stop such dramas(of Sadbhavana and Satkarma fasts) and cheating the people. People are not foolish.

On his Allah comment, Shri Modhwadia while replying to those ‘who believed this was a political gimmick’ said, ‘the number just caught my eye and the first thing that came to my mind was ‘Islam’ as you know what 786 means. I am a believer of all major religions in Gujarat… I see Christianity whenever i see a ‘cross’. Hanumaanji comes to my mind whenever i see bright saffron color. It was a reflection of what has installed in my mind, not a political act. it was more of a personal belief.’
