ATV, beach festival, desert car rally and other attractions at 38-day long Kutch Rann Utsav 2011

Kutch Rann Utsav 2011 will be held between 9 December 2011 and 15 January 2012 for one month period. Gujarat government spokesperson ministers Shri Jaynarayan Vyas and Saurabh Patel said today.

The ministers said that the festival will be kicked off with carnival in Bhuj. They said the first package of 9-12 December 2011 is completely booked.

“The tent city is 80% booked during rest of the period,” the ministers added.

The ministers said last year there were 800 tourists, but this year 32000 tourists have visited Kutch. Earlier Kutch Rann Utsav was held for for just three days, last year there was improvement and the Utsav was organized for 30 days, but this year it would be organized for 38 days.

“In view of new year celebration, we have created a special tourist package for a period between 25-31 December. A beach festival will be organized on the coast of Mandvi, while Makar sankranti will be celebrated over white rann surface. Moreover in Rann Utsav we are offering attractions such as hot air ballooning, desert car rally, camel ride, horse ride, all terrain vehicle(ATV), cultural events during weekend in tent city, Kutchi and other authentic vegetarian food court etc, ” the ministers further said.

According to ministers, there will be 440 AC and non AC tents in Rann Utsav’s tent city at Dhordo which is located just next to white surface of greater rann of Kutch.
