Fake poll promises of Congress, says Gujarat government

Reacting to Gujarat Congress’s poll promise on giving away affordable houses to women, the Gujarat government spokesperson ministers said that it is the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat that gave property rights to women for the first time in India. In Gujarat, women are exempted from paying registration fee and stamp duty for buying house. The government has given away benefits worth Rs 400 crore so far involving 12 lakh women under this initiative.
The Gujarat government further said that in the state all homeless BPL people in zero to sixteen point category are given plots and financial assistance which has never happened in any Congress-ruled state. As many as 4.5 lakh women from BPL homeless families are given benefit under this scheme. Under the urban poor scheme, five lakh poor people are being provided houses. In 8 municipal corporations and 159 municipalities, 1.87 lakh houses are built for poor people. In major cities 80,000 houses are allotted at affordable rate on the lands that cost crores of rupees. The Gujarat government has allotted Rs 500 crore budget for housing for BPL families that fall in 17 to 20 point category. This year Rs 150 crore are allotted for urban poor housing, Rs 354 crore for Sardar Patel housing scheme, Rs 45 crore for Babasaheb Ambedkar housing scheme, Rs 68 crore for Pandit Deendayal housing scheme, and Rs 50 crore for Halpati housing. Moreover the state government has allotted Rs 112.50 crore contribution in Indira Awas Yojna’s 1 lakh beneficiaries. Congress is misleading the people under the title of ‘Ghar nu ghar’ scheme.
The spokesperson ministers Jaynarayan Vyas and Saurabh Patel said that Congress wishes to cheat the women by giving fake poll promises.
