Ahmedabad, 16 August 2012
Reacting to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s 15th August speech, Gujarat Congress President Arjun Modhwadia today in a statement said that it was BJP that voted against the nuclear agreement in parliament which reflected BJP’s mentality against nation’s development. How nation can develop without power? BJP’s mentality against nuclear power station shows that it wants to take the country in backward direction. The Chief Minister should clarify his point of view on BJP’s voting against nuclear agreement.
Modhwadia said that Gujarat was number one state in attracting Foreign direct investment during 1985-1995 too without catering state’s land, forest and money to industries. Modhwadia said Gujarat is now on fifth place so far as industrial development is concerned.
Modhwadia said the BJP has not set up a single new industrial township in its 17-year rule. It was Congress that had initiated GIDC which is ruined by present government. Modhwadia said more than 65000 small and medium enterprises(SMEs) are closed. It is BJP that has taken Gujarat to 18th century.
