Inside the dissidents meet of Gujarat Congress(Videos)

Ahmedabad, 2 December 2012

The location was Ahmedabad’s Amiraj farm on SG highway. Around 4,000 Congress men were gathered on call of dissident leader Narhari Amin. Many Councillors of Ahmedabad, city Congress president, leader of opposition in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, former leader of opposition Naresh Rawal, former MLAs, former spokesperson and many others were present here to express their anger against a set of Congress leaders and their decisions on ticket distribution.

Narhari Amin said he would not work for the candidates selected by party.

Congress leader Naresh Rawal said that tickets are sold. He named Shankarsinh Vaghela, Arjun Modhwadia, Shaktisinh Gohil as members of Chandal chokdi responsible for the mess.

Kirit Patel, former MLA of Visnagar said, “though there’s not a single member of NCP in Visnagar, they gave Visnagar to NCP in seat sharing adjustment. Novice person has been fielded against Narayan Lallu Patel(BJP) in Unjha. Tickets are sold. Rather than joining the army of eunuchs, it’s better to join the funeral procession of a brave man.

NSUI General Secretary Shahnawaz said, “There has been a tradition that when elections are announced, those who want to contest on Congress ticket have to visit Delhi. There are famous roads in Delhi that a party worker from Gujarat has to visit for ticket: Mother Teresa road, Akbar road, Ashoka road….. Some of the roads are difficult to find out when we go to Delhi from Gujarat. Instead of spending hours for preparations for election, we have to camp in Delhi to meet leaders to ensure our chance of getting party ticket. Can’t CP Joshi come to Gujarat and decide party tickets? Why should we spend thousands of Rupees of flight and hotel stays and camp in Delhi? Decisions for Gujarat Congress should be taken in Gujarat, and not in Delhi.

Gujarat Congress General Secretary Ashish Amin said, “Narhrai Amin is not a person who has managed tickets for others, be it the Municipal Corporation polls, or Taluka panchayats or district panchayat elections. Two leaders in Delhi have taken supari. Political games are being played in Delhi. If Congress party itself has decided to lose the election, lets we do all efforts for that applying double strength from outside.

Congress leader Chanchal (Chimanbhai Patel farm fame) in his speech said, “Is there any provision in Congress party’s constitution through which a screening committee can be formed for selection of candidates? They have not heard even Dinsha Patel while deciding Daskroi candidate. Daskroi is part of Union minister Dinsha Patel’s Lok Sabha seat. Gujarat’s ‘chandal chokdi’ (unholy and dirty four persons) has messed up the things. Now when Congress has become BJP, BJP is BJP and Keshubhai is also from BJP, we should vote for whom?”

Patan district’s cooperative leader Dashrathbhai Patel said, “This chandal chokdi is not limited to Delhi or Gujarat. They have created such chandal chokdis in every district. In Patan, the party has been leased to a rich man called Balvantsinh Rajput(former MLA and currently Congress candidate from Sidhpur seat).”

Jamnagar’s former Mayor Sanat Mehta said the current leadership of Congress should feel shame.

Congress leader JB Patel said, “Hame to apno ne lunta, Modi main kahaa dam thaa, hamaari kashti vahaa dubi jahaa paani kam tha”. He further said “Narhari Amin is Congress party’s Bhim. Congress’s Arjun and Yudhisthir slaughtered him. Two brothers are given tickets, father and son are given ticket. What kind of criteria is bieng followed in ticket distribution? In Vejalpur they have fielded a Councillor of Dholka, and in Jamalpur-Khadia they have selected Juhapura’s Councillor as candidate. Last time Congress won three out of total twelve assembly seats in Ahmedabad. This time it will be zero zero zero.”

Former Mayor Himmatsinh Patel seemed soft towards Congress and said that this is party’s internal matter.

Educationist and old-time Congress supporter Sudhir Nanavati said that earlier it was looking like the election result day would be exciting, but now the result is out before even the elections.

Professor Digvijay Singh, brother of Indravijaysinh Gohil, Narpatsinh Chavda and others too spoke against the leadership.
