Modi’s full-fledged attack on Modhwadia in Porbandar(Video)

Porbandar, 4 December 2012

Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign rally in Porbandar was not a just another rally in this election season. Porbandar is represented by rival Congress party’s Gujarat unit Chief Arjun Modhwadia, and therefore the rally was special. And Modi treated it as such. His address was full of references to Modhwadia without naming him. Modi’s attack on Modhwadia and the anger showered on him was so strong and intense that it seemed as if he were settling scores with Modhwadia over all the opprobrium heaped on him by Modhwadia in the last five years in just this one speech.

“To eliminate an illness completely from the body someone would use this pathy, someone else that pathy, and someone would try Ayurvedi, someone else would try a surgery. Similarly if we want to root out the epidemic from all of Gujarat, the solution is in the hands of the people of Porbandar. I have full faith that this time the people of Porbandar will rescue all of Gujarat from this epidemic. You don’t have a chance to serve only Porbandar but entire Gujarat,” Modi said in obvious reference to Porbandar MLA and Congress candidate Arjun Modhwadia.

“Never ever there would be a leader who would sacrifice his associates for his own selfish motives. The leader should be ready with his chest to suffer the wounds for his associates. Isn’t there any Congress leader in Kutiyana? There’s no one in Kutiyana who can fight on a Congress ticket? The Congress leaders betrayed Kutiyana and for their own selfish motives they sacrificed the leaders of Kutiyana and what type of elements they are promoting by doing this? In all of Gujarat, the Congress men with self-respect have raised their voices against such tactics. There’s no district left where Congress workers have not stood up to speak against their leaders,” Modi said in reference to Kutiyana assembly seat’s allotment to NCP, and gangster Kandhal Jadeja’s candidature there.

“There are some ‘Chhappanpaga’ unlucky leaders under whose leadership everything is lost. In the past under such leadership in Gujarat, all taluka panchayats, district panchayats, municipal corporations were lost by the party (Keshubhai’s rule). Under present leadership (of Congress party) Congress will not only be defeated, but will be nearly dead. Not merely a wind or breeze but there’s a cyclone in favor of the BJP and the Congress is all set to be uprooted entirely,” Modi said.

Modi attacked the Congress leader representing Porbandar as its MLA without naming him further by saying that the Congress has put a blotted on Gujarat’s public life by staging conspiracies of sending opponents in jails through misuse of CBI, RAW etc. They have worked to spoil ruin the lives of opponents by trying various tricks. If they have faith in democracy they can come and fight the elections against us and win, but they are playing dirty tricks. They are liars and even after they are caught lying, they never repent but continue with their mendacity.

Modi said such tiny leaders reflect Congress’s poverty and bankruptcy. “Such an army of tiny people have become a liability in this country. The Gujarat Congress has become Gujarat’s enemy. I’m not saying this because there’s an election. Gujarat’s golden jubilee was not Modi’s occasion. It was our dear Gujarat’s golden jubilee. I invited all the parties to join the occasion. But this one person (Modhwadia) managed a boycott of all the events. When you elect such representatives, you defame the name of Porbandar knowingly or unknowingly. Please don’t elect such people and avoid sending them, otherwise Gujarat will be defamed. It is a duty of the peope of Porbandar to remove this blot. The leader you have elected has built a bungalow for himself in Ahmedabad. Nothing good will be achieved by electing a person who has a good time in Ahmedabad. You need a candidate active in your own area,” Modi further said attacking Modhwadia.

Modi said, “this mister from Porbandar speaks in a way that we think, nobody in Porbandar speaks like him. He compared the Gujarat CM with a monkey. Now is this any way to talk? This ‘monkey’ and ‘mouse’ are election issues? There’s no issue to oppose therefore they are using such language.”
