Attractive and trustworthy leadership was strength of BJP during the Gujarat campaign 2012, said leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha and Gujarat MP Shri Arun Jaitley at Gujarat BJP’s legislative party meet in Gandhinagar where Shri Narendra Modi was elected as leader unopposed. Shri Jaitley was attending the function as central observer of the party.
Shri Jaitley said, “Yes our leader was very attractive, but element of trust was even more important. When a leader enjoys trust, whatever amount of oppose wouldn’t work. This was the strength of our campaign. ”
“One of the strong factors in our favor was that the people of Gujarat can clearly define what’s truth and what’s falsehood,” Jaitley said.
“In last ten-twelve years, entire strength of centre was working, media mechanism was being used, national and international NGOs were active round the clock, but our leadership’s attractiveness and trustworthiness became the strength of the party.”
“Every party worker in this country is looking at Gujarat’s rule, Gujarat’s development as role model. And therefore this victory has brought even more responsibility.”
Jaitley said there were instances when some party leader was elected as legislative party leader for four times, but Narendra Modi’s case is unique because he has been constantly elected as legislative party chief of ruling party, and not opposition.
“To win five elections constantly in a span of around twenty years is a unique achievement. It happened in Bengal in past but the reason was that the communists were not challenged. But here if you watched in media, it was like only opposition parties were existing.”
“I observed that Gujarat’s BJP workers didn’t come to Delhi with their demands or complains. If some workers came to me, they came for giving suggestions. Thanks to the hard work of party workers, the Gujarat BJP enjoys an ideal party organization, and our common party worker should get credit for it.”
