Municipal Commissioner of Ahmedabad has taken actions against four officers for inaction against construction of an illegal building. Inspector Pankaj Shah and TD Inspector Upendra Thakor are suspended while show cause notices are issued against DTDO Navinbhai Patel and Assistant TDO Umeshbhai Bhatt.
One social worker Ferozbhai Usmanbhai had in his complain submitted on 13 August last year informed Municipal Commissioner and other officers about ongoing construction on South Zone’s Danilimda town planning scheme no. 37/4 final plot no. 164 by Rohan Kadri and others, after which notices were issued as per the BPMC act. The file was later sent to demolition cell, but when South Zone’s staff arrived at the site to demolish the construction, people were found staying in 15 flats out of total 25 in this building.
Thus the procedures were found just limited to paper when a five-storey building was being constructed. The execution against construction of illegal building was delayed, and sealing was not done at all. Not only this, but higher officers were also not informed about the status of construction.
Taking serious note of this, the Commissioner has taken strict actions against four officials.
