On Narendra Modi’s lunch with EU ambassadors

On Narendra Modi's lunch with EU ambassadorsAs per the Indian Express report, The European Union has signaled end of ‘boycott’ of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. European Union ambassadors in New Delhi invited Modi for lunch and spent two hours with him at Chanakyapuri residence of Michael Steiner, Germany’s envoy to India on January 7 over lunch in an informal meet as per the report.

The report quotes a diplomatic source saying, “We cannot ignore him now.”

The Indian Express report says that EU ambassadors had resolved to break diplomatic engagements with the Modi government at the levels of ambassador, deputy chief of mission and consul-general in March 2002. This decision was revised in 2008 and was extended( it must be noted here that the popular version that EU had banned Modi to enter Europe is actually wrong Look at this link It’s official and out: EU “ban” on Modi was nothing but sheer lie )

In 2011, the Danish ambassador to India met Modi and In July 2012, Ambassador Cravinho recommended to Brussels that the EU should continue to abide by the 2002 resolution. In October 2012, the government of British Prime Minister David Cameron established diplomatic contact with Modi at the highest level.

Modi’s immediate link to EU envoys is possibly the Danish ambassador who is admirer of Modi(read the articles on Danish envoy’s Gujarat visits: “India has planning commission, but needs implementation commission” , “We use lift instead of staircase, and then spend money for gym” , Modi inaugurates Rockwool’s wool insulation plant at Dahej )

Modi’s move to visit the EU ambassadors over an invitation of lunch falls in line of what Chetan Bhagat yesterday narrated as Modi3.

Shri Modi’s lunch with European ambassadors was fine, but they should not expect Mr. Modi to change on several aspects, like his view on the religious conversions law. Mr. Modi is not a material that would change on certain ideological counts. When we are discussing Narendra Modi and European Union, what happened in 2010 between Gujarat and Germany can’t be missed here. In this context access these links.
