Ahead of the Banaskantha district panchayat elections, the present President of the Congress ruled district panchayat Shri Dalsangbhai Patel and former chairman Mavjibhai Dhukh have joined BJP.
This is crucial gain for BJP, because the district has been represented by Congress MP in last two terms, and even in recently concluded assembly elections, BJP’s performance has not been upto the mark here.
Dalsangbhai and Mavjibhai announced their decision to join BJP in presence of state BJP leader IK Jadeja and minister Parbat Patel.
Dalsangbhai is Chairman of Banaskantha District Cooperative Bank for last many years. He has been Chairman of Banaskantha district panchayat for last five years.
Speaking to DeshGujarat, Dalsangbhai said that he was betrayed by Gujarat Congress President Arjun Modhwadia, Banaskantha MP Mukesh Gadhvi and district Congress leader Govabhai Rabari at the last moment of mandate distribution.
While Dalsangbhai belongs to Chaudhary community, Shri Mavjibhai Dhukh is Thakor community leader.
Dalsangbhai said he had hand picked and fielded the candidates of his choice for Congress party to ensure Congress’s victory, but now he has switched over to BJP. He said BJP will win the district panchayat poll for sure.
