By our correspondent, Ahmedabad, 10 February 2013

British Council Education UK will be organising a Schools Mission in the state of Gujarat from 11-15 February 2013. The Mission is British Council’s effort to strengthen education ties between India and the UK. The objective of this Mission is to provide a platform to UK universities to promote undergraduate courses in the UK and open to exchange of ideas in order to establish stronger links for potential collaborations in the future. The Mission could explore opportunities for Indian students to visit UK institutions for familiarisation trips i.e. student exchanges and special benefits for Indian school students etc.

The delegation of 7 UK Universities (University of East Anglia; Glasgow School of Art; University of Greenwich; Kingston University; Leeds Metropolitan University; University of Northampton and Plymouth University) would be visiting the below mentioned schools in Gujarat between 11-14 August :

1) Ahmedabad International School (Ahmedabad)
2) Anand Niketan – Satellite (Ahmedabad)
3) The Calorx School (Ahmedabad)
4) Mahatma Gandhi International School (Ahmedabad)
5) Navrachana International School (Baroda)
6) New Era Senior Secondary School (Baroda)
7) Rajkumar College (Rajkot)

At each school – there would be a combination of student presentations and faculty discussions.

British Council is also convening a Workshop on Friday 15 February 9.00 am to 2.00 pm at the British Library – Ahmedabad (Law Garden Road; Ellisbridge). This is for the UK delegates to meet up with the other schools in order to maximise their reach and bring the Mission to fruition.

This platform will be useful for both UK and Indian institutions to explore stronger future engagements.
