Japanese Consul General inaugurates the Centre for Indo-Japanese Relations in Ahmedabad

While Gujarat-Japan relations are continuously seeing new heights with something or other new positive developments taking place almost every week, today was the day witnessing inauguration of the centre for Indo-Japanese relations in Ahmedabad. The centre was launched at the Ahmedabad Management Association(AMA) on IIMA road. The centre will focus on promoting cooperative endeavors on Academic, Business and Cultural fronts between the two countries.

The centre has been set-up with the endowment from the family of Shri Jaykrishna Harivallabhdas who was founder president of the Indo-Japan Friendship Association, Gujarat way back since the 1970s.

The centre was inaugurated today by Minister for Energy and Tourism, Government of Gujarat Shri Saurabh Patel and Consul General of Japan consulate in Mumbai Mr. Kiyoshi Asako.

The centre for Indo-Japanese relations today declared three programmes that are to be held in the months of February-March 2013.

A 45-hour programme on basic Japanese (language batch VI) will be held during February 23 to April 28 (10 Saturdays and 10 Sundays) Saturday 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm and Sunday 9.30 am to 12.30 pm.

On 17th February a Soul of Japan concert will be held at JB Auditorium in AMA complex. Organized by Japan Foundation, the concert will present four Japanese masters of traditional dance, drums, folksongs and Shamisen showcasing the versatile music and dance tradition of Japan.

The Shamisen is a three-stringed traditional musica instrument which produces a clear and vibrant sound. It has been loved by the Japanese people for over 500 years.

For performances in India, the Shamisen master, Baisho Matsumoto and folk singer, Yoshimi Fujimoto will be accompanied by Japanese dance master, Akira Nishizaki and drum performer, Kyoko Hibiki to create a soul stirring spectacle.
