Procedure of appointing office bearers in six more municipalities was carried out today in Gujarat. Presidents and Vice Presidents were appointed in two municipalities of Navsari district and four municipalities of Panchmahal district. BJP captured power in Navsari’s Bilimora and Vijalpor municipalities and Panchmahal district’s Halol municipality – thus in three municipalities on its own with clear majority while in Santarampur and Kalol Municipalities, the party elected BJP President through support from independents. Thus out of 70 municipalities, 51 are now ruled by BJP.
In Panchmahal district’s Lunavada Municipality, seven members of Congress are now in power through BJP’s support. Congress has been kept at distance from power here.
President and Vice President in Kheda district’s six municipalities will be elected on 4 March.
