Asrani at Gondal where he participated in film shooting

-Bollywood comedy star Asrani’s car faced accident near Virpur in Rajkot district today. Asrani miraculously survived the accident. Asrani’s car was in high speed of around 120 km/hour at the time of accident.

-A sloth bear injured more than half a dozen people in Lakshmipura village near Vadgam in north Gujarat. The wild animal stepped into the areas of human habitation, and reached Mamalatdar office and police station area which is rare.

-BMW hit and run case accused Vismay Shah was denied bail by Ahmedabad Rural court today. The court also rejected a plea seeking Vismay’s further remand.

-Five accused of Sabarmati jail tunnel case complained in the court that the Crime branch investigators tortured them during the interrogation. The court ordered medical check-up and granted further remand of accused in this serious case.

-The total death figure of Swine flue in Gujarat has reached 100 in this season. It is believed that with summer heat, the epidemic will slow down and end.

-Lawyers across Gujarat observed strike today in support of Chandigadh lawyers who were beaten by police.

-Jewellers in Ahmedabad today observed a strike against central government’s decision to include the gems and jewellery sector under the Prevention of Money Laundering (Amendment) (PMLA) Bill. Due to this step taken by the central government, customers may be asked to furnish their permanent account number (PAN) card to the seller in case the transaction involves buying of gold jewellery above Rs 50,000.
