BJP in power in Banaskantha district panchayat, interesting political development in Kheda too

Ahmedabad, 13 March 2013
Though majority of Congress candidates elected, Banaskantha district panchayat is now ruled by BJP.
As he didn’t receive mendet from his party to file form for the post of district panchayat president, Congress man Rajubhai Joshi yesterday switched over to BJP with needed number of elected Congress men and filed nomination form as BJP candidate.
Joshi was today formally elected as President of Banaskantha district panchayat as BJP candidate, while Sukhdev Sodha of BJP was elected Vice President.
But problems for Congress party just don’t end at Banaskantha. Look at Kheda district panchayat where majority of Congress candidates are elected, but elected Congress man Jayantibhai Sodha Parmar has today filed nomination form to become district panchayat president as BJP candidate. If Banaskantha is repeated here, which seems very much likely, Congress will face another blow.
