Ahmedabad, 25 March 2013
One of the greatest strengths of Gujarati society lies in the community driven good works, especially in challenging times. Say for example, it could be very difficult task for the Government to address the post-earthquake situation effectively, if community driven institutions and voluntary organizations were not at help immediately.
While there’s a situation of drought in Kutch this year, every week there’s some announcement for donation or support to cattle camps run by voluntary organizations.
At some places voluntary organizations work independently through donations. At some other places they work in coordination with the state government.
In January, we published how on request of MLA Tarachand Chheda, Mumbai based Kutchi Gujarati Navnit Gala family committed Rs 1.5 crore donation to support 7-9000 cows in Mandvi Taluka’s more than dozen villages through opening up new fodder distribution centers.
Now here’s another major announcement: Mumbai based Kutchi/Gujarati industrialist Damjibhai Anchorwala has announced Rs 1,11,11,111 donation to setup a new Gaushala in drought hit Kutch district of Gujarat.
The announcement was made on the last day of Shri Rameshbhai Oza’s Bhagwad katha at Dhrang. Speaking on this occasion, Shri Rameshbhai Oza said that Panjrapols somehow manage to get funds, but they also need good volunteers. Those who are not able to support Panjrapols and Gaushalas financially, can at least donate their time and volunteer for good works.
Proposed Dhrang Panjrapol will be set up at a cost of Rs 2 crore. According to BJP MLA Tarachandbhai Chheda, Rs 75 lakh will be used for construction, while Rs 25 lakh will be used for daily expenditures. Rs 1 crore will be kept in fixed deposit. Gaushala’s milk will be used for Ann kshetra( free meal to visitors of Mekran dada mandir in Dhrang ) while butter milk will be distributed among villagers for free.
