April 16, 2013
Gandhinagar, 16 April 2013
Three Congress Councillors of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) including Mayor, who switched over to BJP just before the Gujarat assembly elections last year will not be allowed to remain present and vote during general body meeting of GMC.
Single Judge bench of Gujarat High Court Justice HN Devani today stayed attendance and voting right of three Councillors till the final verdict of the case.
With this order BJP and Congress will have 15-15 Councillors in general body meeting of 17 April 2013.It is likely that Deputy Mayor Yusufbhai Parmar will take the charge of Mayor and with his casting vote will make six Congress members victorious again in crucial standing committee of GMC.
Congress leader in GMC Shri Chimanbhai Vinzuda is petitioner int his case.
