Court orders issuance of warrant against ADGP P.P.Pandey

Court in Ahmedabad today ordered issuance of warrant against PP Pande, ADGP(additional director general of police) for his alleged role in Ishrat Jahan encounter. CBI had filed application seeking arrest of PP Pande.
Pandey is on leave for “naturopathy treatment” and untraceable for last few days. He was joint commissioner of police in Ahmedabad in 2004 when Ishrat Jahan, Javed Sheikh alias Pranesh Pillai, Amjadali Akbarali Rana and Zeeshan Johar were shot dead in a police encounter.
Last week, Pande was questioned for several hours by CBI. CBI counsel told the judge, that Pandey didn’t respond to two notices dated April 22 and April 24 for his appearance before the investigating agency.
CBI was asked by the Gujarat high court to take over the probe in December 2011.
