Ishrat encounter:Former CP summoned ,ADGP may be declared absconder

Ahmedabad, 12 June, 2013

After the CBI summoned Special Director of Intelligence Bureau Rajendra Kumar to record his statement as an accused in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case yesterday, there are two more developments in this case today.

Former city police commissioner of Ahmedabad Shri K.R.Kaushik has been summoned by central government’s investigating agency Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI). Kaushik was city police commissioner when Ishrat Jahan and others were encountered. Kaushik was on leave when encounter happened.

In another development in connection with the case, CBI has intensified its efforts to declare ADGP of Gujarat P P Pandey as an absconder after warrants have been issued by special CBI court against him. The SC yesterday rejected the plea of Pandey for quashing of FIR and protection against the non-bailable arrest warrant. The 1980-batch IPS officer from Gujarat cadre was the JCP in Ahmedabad in 2004 when Ishrat was killed in a fake encounter allegedly by crime branch officials.
