Former union minister Bhavnaben Chikhalia passes away


New Delhi, 28 June 2013

Former Minister of State of Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism and Culture(2003-04) in Vajpayee government and ex-Junagadh MP smt Bhavnaben Chikhalia passed away today in Amdavad’s Sterling hospital due to heart attack. She was 58. She was lastly serving as Councillor of Congress ruled Junagadh Municipal Corporation.

She is the first lady in Gujarat who won four consecutive term of Lok Sabha from Junagadh during 1991-2004. She was executive secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Wing from 1993 to 1996, and party Whip and Party Vice President in 1998. She was Chairperson of the Railway Convention Committee during 1999-2002.

Medical bulletin

She was transferred to Sterling Hospital, Ahmedabad from HCG Medisurge Hospital on 27 Jun 2013 at around 4:45 PM in very critical condition (Post – operative status). She was shifted with many Ionotropic supports, Ventilator and Temporary Pacemaker.

She was operated at HCG Medisurge Hospital by CVT Surgeon on 25 Jun 2013.

She expired on 28 Jun 2013 at 10:50 AM.

Cause of Death: Cardio-Respiratory Arrest in a case of Acute Renal Failure (ARF), Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC) & Multi Organ Failure (MOF) in operated case of CABG, AVR and Bentall Surgery for repair of Aortic Dissection.
