Commenting on Shakeel Ahmad’s tweet regarding the creation of Indian Mujahideen (IM), BJP Spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said on Sunday that the tweet totally suggests that the Congress party and Shakeel Ahmad are trying to justify IM and other terrorist outfits.

Meanwhile Congress today disapproved of the remarks of party General Secretary Shakeel Ahmed and party MP Rashid Masood that the 2002 Gujarat riots had led to the formation of terror outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM).
“It is not the party line as of now,” spokesperson Renuka Choudhary told reporters here when asked about Ahmed’s tweet on the issue which led to a political controversy yesterday.
Ahmed had said yesterday on microblogging site Twitter that “Indian Mujahideen was formed after the Gujarat riots, says NIA in its charge sheet. Even now BJP and RSS will not desist from their communal politics?.”
Even as the party distanced itself from his remark, Ahmad said in his latest tweet that he was “surprised by the hype in the media” on the matter.
“Surprised by the hype in media on my tweet of 21st July regarding NIA’s charge sheet. This news was there in Indian Express&ET on 20th July,” he said.
Earlier in the day, he said through another tweet “No sane person can justify terror acts of IM or any other outfit. I simply mentioned NIA’s version in its charge sheet highlighted by media”.
