Team Modi replies Digvijay Singh by putting year 2004 video online

Ahmedabad, 12 August 2013

After Shri Narendra Modi concluded his speech at Hyderabad yesterday with ” We can and we will” slogan, a pro-Congress section in online, TV and print media started comparing it with Obama’s similar slogan used during the American elections.

In this reference, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh even posted a tweet and described Mr. Modi without naming him as a “fake desi Obama”.

Late in the evening on Monday, Modi’s IT team posted a video on Youtube showcasing a part of Modi’s year 2004 speech that he had delivered at the Vibrant Gujarat summit function.

The function was held at Gujarat University ground in Amdavad in presence of then Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee among others.

Shri Modi at the end of his speech said, “Gujarat can and Gujaratis will” and asked people to repeat the same.

Ditto, in Hyderabad rally Modi used this same slogan in national context and asked the audience to repeat it.

The question being discussed online now is: who copied whom then? Modi copied Obama? No, Obama’s American election campaign happened after Modi’s 2004 speech. Then Mr. Obama copied Modi? No, it would be too much if we say so. Or can we sum up as great men think alike? Yes, perhaps.

But in any case, the Congress brigade has been answered powerfully by Modi’s team today.
