36 villages to be excluded from proposed Mandal-Becharaji SIR

A committee formed by Gujarat Chief Minister has taken a decision to exclude 36 villages from proposed Mandal-Becharaji Special Investment Region(SIR). This detail was shared by senior minister Shri Nitin Patel who is one of the members of the committee.
According to Shri Patel, 36 villages opposing the SIR notification are excluded. He said proposed SIR project will be implemented now in 8 villages – Udhroj, Ukardi, Chandanka, Udhrojpura, Shihor, Hansalpur, Bharapur and Sitapur – where majority of villagers are ready for the project. These 8 villages are part of Mandal, Detroj and Becharaji talukas. Patel said a new notification will be issued in this regard.
He said the proposed SIR is part of the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor which is being developed in partnership with the Japan government. Though the project is very important, the Chief Minister took farmers’ opinion in consideration and formed committee.
