So what did Gujarat Congress gain from this bandh?

Ahmedabad, 6 September 2013
So what was the end result of Gujarat Congress’s bandh?
Seriously, the bandh was only partially successful, there was no natural response to this bandh call, and whatever small success the bandh call evoked was enforced one.
So throughout the day you saw Congress workers pelting stones over the buses, puncturing the buses, forcing passengers to leave the buses, snatching away keys of BRTS buses on road, visiting markets and threatening the traders to observe bandh or face consequences. Vandalizing college office, locking up a college principal in his cabin, burning tire opposite the school campus and so on.
Thanks God, we have very few Congress supporters in Gujarat. The incidents narrated above were sporadic and not too many.
So, the ST buses were functional, city buses were on, rickshaws were running, shops were open until the Congress men came and forced closure, trains were on track, school colleges functioned smoothly barring some campuses, traffic was normal too.
As we said before, the bandh call was completely unnecessary and we wonder, whose bankrupt mind in Congress conceptualized it. What this bandh proved was goondaism and nuisance of Congress cadre in this peaceful state.
So Congress lost number of votes per every bus window broken, every shop/school forced to shut down, every tire burnt.
If Congress had given a bandh call on the issue of supply of water during initial days of drought last year, it could evoke natural response, but what was today’s bandh about? Vanzara’s letter? Ha ha. May God help Congress, but for that first Congress will need to help itself.
