Rajkot, 26 September 2013
The city of Rajkot will start getting daily 20 minute water supply from October 1.
The city faced drought last year. Practice of daily water supply was changed to alternate day water supply.
Even after good monsoon this year, major dams like Aaji, Bhadar, Nyari that supply water to Rajkot were nearly empty.
The state government had downsized Narmada water supply to 80 MLD a day.
Early this month, a delegation of Rajkot Municipal Corporation went to state capital to demand 150 mld Narmada water supply.
However today’s 18 inch rain has changed the scenario completely. It’s like a magic that less than 10 days before Navratri, all dams that supply water to Rajkot are now full.
The Rajkot Municipal Corporation has therefore decided to resume daily 20 minute water supply to city from 1st October.
