Mangubhai Patel all set to become Deputy Speaker of Gujarat Assembly

Senior BJP MLA shri Mangubhai Patel is all set to become the Deputy Speaker of assembly. He is nominated for this post by ruling BJP. On the other side the opposition Congress party has announced its MLA Shailesh Parmar’s nomination for same post.
BJP enjoys 2/3rd majority in house,and Mangubhai’s Deputy Speakership is certain.
The leader of opposition today in a statement criticized BJP for not allowing a Congress MLA to become Deputy Speaker. Reacting to this sharply, the BJP in a statement said that during 20 years long rule in Gujarat between 1960 and 1980, the Congress governments had allowed opposition party’s deputy speaker for only four years. Not only this but nationwide 18 states have speaker and deputy speaker of ruling party, of which 10 states are ruled by Congress.
