Ahmedabad, 3 October 2013
“My mother told me that the words that I used were wrong. In hindsight, I feel maybe my words were wrong….but the sentiment I felt was not wrong,” the vice-president of the Congress party Rahul Gandhi told reporters in Ahmedabad today when asked about the recent ordinance affair.
He said, “everyone in the party agreed to it. It shouldn’t be penalized for my comments on the ordinance.”
He further said, “I listened to my heart. I had to voice my opinion to which I have a right.”
He also said, “I shouldn’t have used the language I did.”
Rahul had derided the ordinance as “nonsense” which should be “torn up and thrown away” at a press conference last week.
