Exactly after 12 years of losing power, Keshubhai Patel holds meeting to plan next power move

Gandhinagar, 7 October 2013
A meeting of Gujarat Parivartan Party(GPP) leaders Keshubhai Patel, Gordhan Zadafia and Suresh Mehta at Keshubhai Patel’s house in Gandhinagar today afternoon is in news. Everybody is guessing that the meeting has something to do with Keshubhai’s decision to rejoin the BJP, and merger of GPP with BJP.
Interestingly the meeting is taking place exactly on day when Narendra Modi is completing 12 years in power in Gujarat. 12 years back, Keshubhai Patel had to step down to make a way for Narendra Modi, as directed by party’s central leadership, or in one word Shri LK Advani.
Keshubhai’s GPP has two MLAs in Gujarat assembly. One MLA is openly with BJP, the other MLA is Keshubhai who was seen soft towards the Narendra Modi government during recently concluded Monsoon session of assembly.
On his birthday, the Gujarat Chief Minister last month visited Keshubhai Patel to meet him in the morning. While Lok Sabha elections are a few months away, Keshubhai and his son Bharat believe that rejoining BJP is good idea.
Keshubhai is most probably looking for some role to play after Narendra Modi shifts his base to Delhi next year.
But then what about Gordhan Zadafia who has gone too far in his battle against Narendra Modi? What if he too decides to rejoin the BJP ultimately? Well, in that case he would have only one answer, “Keshubhai’s decision is final, and we abide by his wish.”
For now, discussions are going on within Keshubhai camp. Gujarat’s politics has revolved around one man – Narendra Modi – for last 12 years and beyond that. Possibilities of his move to Delhi is watched closely by many, including Keshubhai and team.
Zadafia, Mehta deny possibilities
Speaking to media persons after meeting with Keshubhai, GPP leader Gordhan Zadafia and Suresh Mehta said there’s no move to rejoin BJP. They said the BJP was spreading rumors in an attempt to weaken the GPP.
Media waited, but Keshubhai didn't step out of his house to deny speculations on joining BJP. Neither he issued denial in press release. 1/2
