Ahmedabad, 8 October 2013
The city of Ahmedabad witnessed heavy rain around noon on Tuesday. At least three under bridges had to be closed for traffic due to water logging.
Today is the fourth day of Navratri, and almost all major Garba grounds across the city are now water logged.
The biggest Garba event at GMDC ground was canceled yesterday for one night due to water logging. Today morning when laborers were working hard to remove the water, there was another round of heavy rain! According to the Gujarat Tourism PR manager Khyati Nayak, today’s garba event has been canceled at GMDC ground.
According to weather department, this unusual round of rains will continue for another six days or so. In that case, this year’s Navratri will completely loss its charm. If rainy season was limited to just Ahmedabad, the garba goers could move to Vadodara, but even Vadodara is not totally fit. The rain god is present over entire central Gujarat including Nadiad, Kheda and the areas around Khambhat.
