Modi prime target of top ten terror organizations, says Bhatkal: Home ministry steps up Modi’s security

Ahmedabad, 28 October 2013

Soon after Modi’s name was announced as BJP’s PM candidate, the Gujarat government had requested to the Ministry of Home Affairs to step up Modi’s security wherever he is travelling outside Gujarat. In response to this the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked all states to take the responsibility and extend Modi security cover whenever he is attending election rallies or meetings.

Modi, who already has Z-plus security cover by the National Security Guards (NSG), will be given the same kind of cover by the concerned state police wherever he is visiting. According to Home Secretary(Gujarat) Shri SK Nanda, for short haul journey it will be the Gujarat Police and for longer journeys that extend beyond 24-48 hours, the concerned state police will have to be involved.Under both arrangements, the NSG will be the common factor.

Soon after the BJP announced that Modi will be its poll campaign chief, the NSG, with the MHA’s approval, doubled the number of personnel in Modi’s inner security cordon from 18 to 36.At least 108 NSG personnel are dedicated to Modi’s close range security at present, including those who sanitize vehicles used by him to travel outside Gujarat.

Captured Indian Mujahideen supremo Yasin Bhatkal has recently revealed in the interrogation that Narendra Modi is prime target of top 10 terror organisations.
