DeshGujarat.Com completes 7 years today. The website was founded on 23 October 2006 which was Gujarati new year day that year.

Straight presentation, simplest possible layout, handpicked content, limited but regular updates, belief in ‘small is beautiful’, Gujarati patriotism/pride and good intentions are some of the values we haven’t compromised from day one. Before starting this site we decided to avoid crime coverage and cheap stories/photos completely. We also decided to take stand and report accordingly without hippocratic neutrality. Whatever we feel good for Gujarat is published. It feels great that we have maintained these values throughout the journey so far.

One of the two questions we often face is about the name of the site. People ask: Why desh(country) when Gujarat is a state? In reply we throw number of counter questions; do you question Kerala Tourism’s slogan ‘God’s own country?’, do you question the name Tamil Nadu (Nadu means a country in Tamil), do you question Rajasthan Tourism’s slogan ‘Padhaaro mhaare des?’, do you also question the name MahaRashtra( forget desh or country which is an organic unit, the word rashtra means a full scale nation) or Telugu Desam?

The other question we are asked is about our positive stand on Modi. All we want to say is that we strongly believe that Modi as PM is good for Gujarat and for nation and we have taken stand due to our basic and core policy of ‘good intentions’. We are strongly of opinion that Modi is far better leader than the others available at this point of time.

About how we manage to run the show, well our site was functioning through one computer table for first five years. In last two years it expanded to 11×10 ft single room. This year we will have some bigger space. Top politicians across party lines know how we politely avoid to accept help. They truly respect us for this, and take our notice attentively. In all these years, we majorly sailed through our share of agency fed advertisements revenue. That’s because of huge and regularly growing number of genuine visitors from across the world. We don’t seek direct ads as of now. Whenever we meet top politicians, and they become friendly, all we request them is: Please just feed us news, facts, insights, all we expect from you is this and nothing more. This is in fact the recipe of our successful and precise political coverage.
