Modi historically correct on all counts, Juvenile attempts by JD(U) and Congress to score political points: Former JD(U) National Secretary

Ahmedabad, 7 November 2013

In a direct attack on Nitish Kumar, former JD(U) National Secretary Shri Shivraj Singh has lashed out at what he calls ‘juvenile lies spread by the Congress and JD(U) leadership just to score political points.” Singh was referring to the recent outbursts by Nitish Kumar and Congress leaders challenging Narendra Modi’s knowledge of history after Modi’s speech during the BJP’s Hunkaar Rally in Patna late last month.

In a column titled ‘Ill read critics of Modi using lies to belittle him’, Shivraj Singh punctured every criticism made by the JD(U) and Congress during Modi’s Patna speech. He said that the points made by Narendra Modi on Chandragupta, Taxila and Alexander were all valid points and totally historically accurate. Sharpening his attack on the JD(U) and Congress, he noted that re-writing of history has reached its lowest ebb, even surpassing the efforts of former HRD Minister Arjun Singh.

Singh also shared three videos from the Hunkar rally to illustrate his point. He wrote that at no point did Modi say Chandragupta Maurya was a part of the Gupta dynasty. He also wrote that Modi’s references to Alexander were made symbolically and are fully correct historically.

It was evident that Shivraj Singh’s target number 1 was Nitish Kumar. Responding to Nitish’s claim that Modi was profusely sweating and drinking water during the speech, he asked Nitish to come out with the exact litres of water Modi drank. He accused Nitish Kumar of being insensitive to people be it when children die during mid day meals or when his Minister says it is natural for a soldier to die while serving the nation.

He did not spare MoS HRD Shashi Tharoor either and minced no words in giving a fitting reply to Tharoor’s barb that Modi was neither well read nor well educated. Singh wrote that Tharoor’s references to Modi’s lack of historical knowledge only showed the Minister’s comprehension problem and nothing else. Singh pointed that it is in vogue to compare Modi with Hitler but the truth is that even Goebbels would be put to shame seeing the methods of the Congress and its new found friends, referring to the JD(U).
