Congress’s Junagadh trouble: Rahul Gandhi intervenes, holds talk with Kotecha

Junagadh, 14 November 2013

Junagadh is the only municipal corporation in Gujarat where Congress is in power. However the party unit here is facing serious problem of infighting. The infighting showed its worst color today when during city Congress’s get-together function city Mayor’s son distributed leaflets against deputy Mayor Girish Kotecha.

This happened in presence of minister of state in centre and Lok Sabha MP Tushar Chaudhary who presided the function.

Amid speculations that he may soon switch over to rival BJP, Girish Kotecha was called by Rahul Gandhi to Delhi today. Kotecha met Rahul Gandhi and had detailed discussion today not only about Junagadh affairs of the party, but about Gujarat leadership too.

In the past whenever Kotecha was unhappy, the party sent its state leader Narhari Amin to Junagadh for compromise formula. Now Narhari Amin is in BJP and it is believed that he is in talk with Kotecha to bring him to BJP with his supporters. To save its only municipal corporation in Gujarat, Rahul Gandhi himself has intervened this time and talked with Kotecha. In recent past when Rajkot MP Kunvarji Bavalia was sulking, Rahul Gandhi had called him also to Delhi.

Kotecha is unhappy with Congress ever since he was denied ticket in last year’s assembly elections.
