Ahmedabad, 15 November 2013
Lately the multiplexes in Ahmedabad have decided to release Bollywood film Ram Leela today itself. Almost all multiplexes in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar have released the film today.
On Thursday evening, the Ahmedabad Theatre Association had agreed to city police’s request to postpone the release of Ram-Leela for one day, as most police force was busy on Muharram duty.
However on Friday, when inquired on phone, most multiplexes in Ahmedabad replied they have released the film today itself.
It should be mentioned here that Rabari and Kshatriya communities in Gujarat had problem with certain dialogues of the film. Film maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali yesterday apologized Kshatriya/Rajput community through a front page advertisement published in all major Gujarati newspapers. Bhansali in same advertisement also announced that caste indicating words Rabari and Jadeja have been replaced with Rajadi and Saneda respectively in the film. However even after his apology, there were two incidents of attacks on theaters in Rajkot and Gandhinagar based multiplexes.
Along with Ahmedabad, the film has been released in Gandhinagar, Junagadh, Surat, Rajkot and other places barring just Bhavnagar where theater owners have decided not to release the film.
