Ahmedabad, 22 November 2013

Remember that Kashmir era of Bollywood when number of Hindi film shootings were taking place in Kashmir? Gujarat’s Kutch has silently emerged as similar destination. Three Hindi movies – two of them already running in theatres and one soon to release were filmed in Gujarat’s Kutch district.

While super hit film Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela has featured Kutch’s traditional dresses, ornaments, murals, Gujarati folk songs, locations, garba steps impressively, the other Hindi movie Gori Tere Pyaar Mein with Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles has also been filmed in Kutch. Kareena plays role of NGo worker active in Gujarat village in this film. The third film which is releasing soon is R…Rajkumar. Bollywood stars Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha camped in Kutch and Gondal in Gujarat for shooting of this film early this year.

In recent years, Kutch has hosted shootings of number of other Hindi films. India’s two nominated films sent for Oscar awards – Lagaan and The Good road were also filmed in Kutch.

Apart from suitable locations, the other things Gujarat offers are good law and order situation, overall peace, supportive authority, cordial local people and easy connectivity to Mumbai.
