IIM Ahmedabad Confluence 2013 to kick off on November 29

Ahmedabad, 27 November, 2013

Confluence, the annual business summit driven by the two year post graduate students of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) will be organized from November 29 to December 1, 2013. Prof. G. Raghuram, Dean (Faculty), IIMA will inaugurate the event on November 29, 2013 at 2.00 pm at the Ravi J Matthai Auditorium, IIMA Main Campus.

This year Confluence is centered around the theme “Traversing Turbulent Times – Obstacles to Opportunity”. New paradigms that have emerged for businesses across sectors and geographies – learning to survive and emerge from extended periods of global economic turmoil is the central theme of this year’s summit.

Confluence is Asia’s biggest business school summit with over 5,000 students participating from more than 200 schools and colleges. The summit occupies a coveted position in the calendars of the managerial intelligentsia worldwide and attracts students from premier colleges and prominent industry leaders. Prof. Prem Chander, Prof. Sanjeev Tripathi and Prof. Vaibhav Bhamoriya are the Faculty Advisors for the event. The speaker sessions at Confluence 2013 includes talks by distinguished speakers. Dr. C. Rangarajan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council and former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and Vinod Rai, the ex-Comptroller and Auditor General of India; (Ms.) Anu Aga, Padma Shri awardee and member of the Rajya Sabha, currently serving as the Chairperson for the Teach for India campaign; Dr. Mukesh Batra, Founder and CEO of Dr. Batra’s Positive Health Clinic; Chander K. Baljee, IIM A alumnus, founder and current Chairman and Managing Director of Royal Orchid Hotels Limited; Ashish Hemrajani, founder and CEO of Bigtree Entertainment, the company which runs the portal BookMyShow.com; Ashwin Sanghi, author and among Forbes India Celebrity 100; Air Commodore Rajesh Isser, Head of Operation Rahat, the world’s largest heliborne rescue operation during the Uttarakhand floods and Dr. Ajit Ranade, Chief Economist, Aditya Birla Group will deliver insightful talks.

Confluence 2013 includes its first Media Conclave. Speakers at the conclave include Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief of IBN18 Network, (Ms.) Madhu Trehan, founding Editor of India Today and Prof. Paranjoy Guha Thakurta, independent journalist and educator, who will engage in interactive sessions on the topic of whether selling news is a sustainable corporate model.

Masterplan, a business plan competition for budding entrepreneurs, International Case Masters, the case writing competition and Mousetrap, where the future decision makers of the top corporates battle it out in a simulated business environment are just some of the flagship events of Confluence 2013 that will be held.

The summit will comprise a host of other events in domains of Finance, Marketing, Policy and Strategy with prizes worth up to Rs. 20 lakh to be won.

A unique Management Student Programme is being offered during Confluence 2013 that will give participants an exclusive opportunity to be taught and mentored by the renowned faculty of IIM Ahmedabad as well as the chance to attend six workshops in six different domains – i.e. Finance, Marketing, Strategy, Operations, Consulting and Human Resource and Organizational Behaviour.
