It’s governor again! Kutch University without VC for last one year!

Due to Gujarat Governor’s objections, Kutch University is functioning without Vice Chancellor for last one year.

According to district BJP president Pankajbhai Mehta, three names of search committee panel for selection of Vice Chancellor were sent to Governor. However the Governor rejected the panel itself and asked for formation of a new search committee. This action was unconstitutional and invalid. Therefore a plea has been filed in the Gujarat High Court to get justice.

Mehta said the basic issue is Governor’s refusal to accept any of the three names sent to her. Governor has made one appointment recently in search committee, and who is he? A person suggested by her for search committee is Gujarat Congress’s spokesperson. Thus it seems Governor wants to Congressified the university.

It should be noted that Kutch University’s Executive Committee member and district panchayat president Trikambhai Chhanga has filed PIL in Gujarat High Court agaisnt formation of new search committee. Court has served notice to University’s Chancellor, Registrar, Chief Secretary of state and four members of search committee led headed by JP Maiyani. High Court has given stay against formation of a new search committee. Next hearing is scheduled on 13 December. Kutch University is without Vice Chancellor since November 2012.

Meanwhile Congress leader and member of executive council Navalsinh Jadeja said that Congress will not allow breach of UGC guideline in procedure of selecting third Vice Chancellor.
