Sunday big-day for Vadodara

Vadodara, 9 December 2013

Sunday, 15th of December will be a big day for Vadodara. In the morning Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Shri Narendra Modi will be in city to flag off the Statue of Unity run event. Over one lakh citizens are likely to participated in this run event which is to be organized in over 500 places across the nation on same day including Amdavad.

On same day the Lakshmi Vilas Palace in city will witness Baroda Cricket Association(BCA) elections. It’s a clash of titans. Royal family’s Samarjitsinh Gaekwad is contesting for the post of president of BCA against pharma baron Chirayu Amin who is holding this position for last 15 years(and yet not ready to leave though he promised to Gaekwad during last election of BCA). BCA is one of the richest cricket clubs in India. Samarjitsinh is contesting with a goal to fulfill a long cherished dream of building a stadium of BCA. He is also contesting against some alleged mismanagement and wrong decisions taken by BCA in recent past. Though BJP is in silent, it is sympathizing with Gaekwad, local MP and city unit chief are working for rival Chirayu Amin to prevent rise of Gaekwad who tomorrow can be possible political challenger and become member of parliament on BJP ticket.

Indeed an eventful Sunday.
