Another GPP leader rejoins BJP, good gain for party in Kheda

Ahmedabad, 23 December 2013

Ahead of upcoming Lok Sabha polls, this is good gain for BJP in Kheda district.

Former President of Kheda district panchayat Rakesh Rao has rejoined BJP.

Rao won Matar as BJP candidate in 2002 with 10,000 votes margin. He was one of the rebels against Modi in year 2005 and had received suspension notice too. He was denied party ticket in 2007 after which he contested district panchayat poll for BJP and became president of Kheda district panchayat.

Rao left BJP last year after he was denied ticket to contest from Matar assembly seat in Kheda district. He joined Keshubhai Patel-led Gujarat Parivartan Party(GPP) and contested from Matar, but lost against sitting candidate of BJP Devusinh Chauhan. Now he is back in BJP.
