Gujarat chief minister and Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will address a public rally ‘Vijay Sankalp’ on Sunday in Panaji, Goa.

The local BJP unit expects one lakh people to attend Modi’s Goa rally. 1200 buses of 50 passengers will transport party workers to the venue.

Goa Chief minister Manohar Parrikar said that the party will appraise the BJP prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi about the special status to Goa and the issues of dual citizenship and mining. Parrikar also said that he will take up the issue of registration of birth in Portugal as people have unknowingly registered it. He also said that those who have obtained a Portuguese passport have surrendered their nationality and that issue will not be taken up.

Parrikar also said that he will appraise how the mining mess has caused problems for the state and will also raise the special status issue. He added that other issues would be taken up with Modi once they form the government in Delhi.

BJP sources on Friday said that over 75,000 tickets worth Rs.5 each had already been booked in the last three days. By Saturday, the number would swell a bit.

“The final tally would be available by Saturday. But right now, through online booking and through physical coupons, we have sold over 75,000 tickets,” a party official said.

BJP Goa leader Laxmikant Parsekar on Thursday said, “some years back, we had a public rally with record presence of 50,000 people which was attended by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This time we will break our own record.”

The BJP leader said that coalition partners from Parrikar-led Government are also invited for the rally.

“Leaders from the political parties like Maharastrawadi Gomantak party will also be sitting on the dais,” he added.
