Ahmedabad, 13 January 2014
Gujarat Chief Minister Narnedra Modi today held a meeting of senior cabinet colleagues and officials at Swarnim Sankul here to discuss the Ahmedabad Metro Rail project. Minister Saurabh Patel and Anandiben Patel are part of this meeting. The Rs. 22,000 crore Metro rail project has been a non-starter. The union government earlier turned down Gujarat govt’s proposal to assist the Metro rail project citing the reason that the proposal was not under prescribe format. The Gujarat government was asked to re-submit the proposal as per the prescribe criteria. It is believed that the state government will implement the project phased-wise, and exclude Gandhinagar in first phase.
