Ahmedabad, 21 January 2014
Most of the parts of mainland Gujarat, Saurashtra, Mumbai and even Delhi region today witnessed rounds of showers in early morning. Today’s rains are sudden because yesterday throughout the entire day the sky was sunny. It was a matter of surprise when shower started at around 2.00 am. Showers continued throughout the night and even in morning. There’s haze too in the air.
This is the link to watch the latest satellite picture updated by the Indian Meteorological Department(IMD). It shows the presence of clouds over Gujarat.
Couple of days back this report in Hindu Business Line predicted surplus rain in east Gujarat in February-March-April. The report said, “In fact, February-March-April may even see surplus rain over Madhya Pradesh, east Gujarat and southwest Uttar Pradesh.”
Like always, after the rain has occurred, the Gujarat office off IMD has predicted light to moderate rain/thundershwers at isolated places across Gujarat, but there’s no warning issued. According to IMD Gujarat bulletin, “morning’s upper-air cyclonic circulation over south Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat region extending upto 2.1 kms above sea level persists.”
It should be mentioned that the rainy season actually starts in June in Gujarat.
