Ahmedabad, 23 January 2014
In response to All India Congress Committee(AICC) president Sonia Gandhi’s political secretary and Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat Ahmed Patel’s letter, Airport Authority of India(AAI) has extended free parking time at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Patel airport and all other airports from five minutes to ten minutes. Ahmed Patel had written a letter to Union Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh in this regard.
It should be mentioned that last year, Airport Authority had set up a toll booth on a road leading to the domestic terminal. Once you reach toll booth, they issue a ticket with timing written on it. From toll booth you need to drive to domestic terminal, drop passengers and return to toll booth in five minutes only. If it’s sixth minute of more, they charge Rs. 60 parking charge.
Earlier practice was different. There was no such toll booth. One had to pay money only if the vehicle was parked inside the parking area. Ahmed Patel had written a letter to extend the time from 5 to 10 minutes. His demand has been accepted.
