Meerut, 2 February 2014

BJP prime ministerial candidate Shri Narendra Modi while addressing a rally in Meerut(Uttar Pradesh)today said Samajwadi Party should compete him not by holding rallies, but by ensuring better law and order, security of women and better condition of farmers.

Modi in his today’s speech raised number of local issues including the issues relating to sugar cane growing farmers, security of women, express way, airport, communal violence, jobs etc. He gave examples of how Gujarat is doing better in these areas.

In a retaliation to Congress Vice President Sonia Gandhi’s ‘seeds of poison’ jibe, Modi questioned, “A few days ago, Rahul Gandhi was told by his mother that power is poison. Who has been in power for so many years? Therefore who is sowing poison?”

Accusing Congress of playing ‘divisive politics’, Modi said that since the party had been in power for the maximum time, it had tasted ‘poison’ the most.

Raising a ‘Vote for India’ chant Modi asked people to elect BJP in order to ensure that the country moves on the path to progress.

“I promise to be a watchman of the national treasures. We will look after the treasure vault that India is,” Modi said.

Modi took up the issue of problems north-east people face in Delhi. Referring to how African women were ill treated in Delhi recently and how a boy from Arunachal was killed there, Modi said we need to see Delhi as a global city, but in the past few days what is happening our heads hang in shame. “This is a shame for all of us,” he said. “The way Delhi is being governed shows the country in bad light,” he added. He said he will visit Saraswati mandir that provides education to north-east students.
