Ahmedabad, 15 February 2014
In a public meeting held in presence of less than or around 1,000 people outside the Gujarat Congress headquarters in Ahmedabad, senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel today said if Modi becomes Prime Minister, his corrupt practice will go beyond Gujarat and spread India-wide.
Ahmed Patel said Congress party is committed to socialism. He said those judging Gujarat through twitter are mistaking, the actual situation is such that one succeeding Modi will face great difficulty in running the state due to Modi’s bad governance. Ahmed Patel said, Modi tried to change his image citing opportunity to come to power in Delhi due to anti-incumbency against UPA following ten years of rule in centre.
Ahmed Patel in his speech questioned the source of money behind Modi’s rallies. He said the Gujarat model being demonstrated before the country is actually a Modi model. Targeting Modi, he said Sardar Patel, Ambedkar etc are recalled only before the elections. Ahmed Patel said some chai-wala came to him and said Modi was tea-stall contractor and not tea-seller. Ahmed Patel alleged that cylinders used in “Chai pe charcha” were for domestic use. Ahmed Patel said, Gujatat government takes loan for the sake of surplus budget. Ahmed Patel said the Chief Minister who is not able to build Metro rail connecting Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar speaks about connecting four corners of India through bullet train.
This public meeting was held to formally induct less than dozen NGO activists (Raju Dipti, Lalji Desai and others) to Congress party. Against expected 10,000 strong crowd, only around 1,000 were seen gathered at meeting venue. Looking at the crowd Ahmed Patel said, “Yeh Mehfil-e-Aam nahi, Mehfil-e-Khaas hai”(this is not assembly for mass, this is assembly for those specials).
