Effectively just four-day assembly session, least transparency
February 20, 2014

Gandhinagar, 20 February 2014
Gujarat assembly’s five-day session started today with Governor’s address. Congress MLA created disturbance during the address and sought discussion on Talati recruitment issue. The house is adjourned for tomorrow.
The second day of session will start at 8.30 am. Finance minister Nitin Patel will present vote on account for four months.
Effective days of the five-day session are only four.
Unlike other states, Gujarat maintains least transparency when it comes to assembly procedures. Live telecast or web streaming of assembly procedures is not allowed. Media cameras are not allowed inside the assembly complex. Only half an hour bulletin of assembly procedure is supplied every evening to regional TV channels, that too edited by state government’s Information department. The website of Gujarat assembly is worse compared to other states(Read: Transparency my foot – the Gujarat assembly website says without saying it )
