Surat, 21 February 2014
Parents of students of IP mission school at Muglisara in Surat protested against “Bible knowledge test’ allegedly forced on students. Surat based Jagrut Vaali(parents) Mandal(association) submitted a memorandum to District Education Officer(DEO). In their memorandum the parents said motive behind such test which is for std 6-11 students is to sow seeds of religious conversion. The students are asked to read Bible to perform well in ‘Bible Gyan Kasoti’ and prizes are offered to them. The school intends to lay foundation of Christian faith in children’s minds. During his India visit ten years back, then Pope had appealed that Bible should reach ever home. Such exam it seems is being conducted as part of this drive. District Education Officer should intervene and ask the school to not to conduct such test.
