Ahmedabad, 4 March 2014
Ahmedabad city unit president of Congress party Shri Chetan Rawal has in a statement announced party’s decision to expel former Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee(GPCC) secretary Jayesh Shah from the primary membership of party.
According to statement issued today by Gujarat Congress, Shri Jayesh Shah has been expelled for circulating baseless news about party’s senior leader Shri Shankersinh Vaghela in press and media, as party believes it is a gross act of indiscipline.
Who is Jayesh Shah
Jayesh Shah had given his office at HK Complex in Vasna area of Ahmedabad to Congress party when party’s state headquarters was under construction. Shah has recently started mailing statements to media persons almost on daily basis against the state government and sometime against the way party is functioning in Gujarat. On Monday he wrote a letter to state Congress president Arjun Modhwadia and circulated it in media. In this letter he questioned why the state party headquarters building Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan does not have name of Gujarat Congress?
Shah also briefed some media persons over phone call about a letter written to party’s central leadership by as many as 60 Gujarat Congress leaders, including some former MLAs and ministers raising doubts over RSS origin leader Shankersinh Vaghela’s loyalty to Congress party.
Shah’s briefed media
Former secretary, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Jayesh Shah said, “I and around 60 Congress leaders and workers, which includes former ministers have written to Soniaji about the damage done by Shankersinh Vaghela, who joined Congress after working for 38 years with RSS and BJP.
“He was brought in to the party when he merged his party RJP into the Congress with a view that he would help Congress fighting Modi, but he never did it. He has done extensive damage to the party and worked against the party. He is also helping Modi in finishing off the party in Gujarat. He is using the party for personal gain only.
“Those MLAs who left recently all were from his group and he did nothing to stop them. He still has an RSS/BJP style of working.”
“Today too he is acting as a group leader only instead of a party leader,” Shah said.
Shah reacts
Meanwhile Jayesh Shah has sent another press release to media questioning party’s decision to expel him. He said he is being punished for saying truth. Instead of correcting its mistake the Gujarat Congress has taken wrong decision. Shah said he will continue to be involved with Congress. He raised question why so many people left Congress party in such a short time recently.
