Cadre want Narendra Modi to contest on Ahmedabad East, Gandhinagar seats

Ahmedabad, 6 March 2014

BJP cadre today proposed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s name for candidature on Ahmedabad East and Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seats before party observers.

Seven term MP representing Ahmedabad East seat Shri Harin Pathak told party observers that he was ready to withdraw his claim this time if Narendra Modi wanted to contest.

It should be mentioned that yesterday entire local unit of BJP in Surat led by president Purnesh Modi proposed Narendra Modi’s name for Surat Lok Sabha seat. However Ahmedabad East and Gandhinagar are considered natural seats for Modi. Gandhinagar, because Modi lives in Gandhinagar and he has property there, and Ahmedabad East because he represents Maninagar assembly seat which is part of Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha constituency. RSS Gujarat headquarters Hedgewar Bhavan in Maninagar area has been Modi’s home for many years. Modi can just file his nomination, address couple of rallies and for rest of the time move across the nation if he choose to contest on any of these two seats.

It has to be mentioned that Gandhinagar is represented by LK Advani in Lok Sabha. Many party men particularly from Sanand belt during their representation before part observers today complained that Advani doesn’t pay visit to constituency even once in five years and he should be limited to guiding role only. However Advani’s name was also represented by other section.
